Apple goes for kill switch

Anyone with a jail broken iPhone 4 should take notice that Apple are making plans to introduce a “Kill Switch” this is initially designed so that if a phone is lost or stolen it can be made inactive once the measures have been activated.

But before everyone gets excited, there is a dark side to this feature that goes under the name of the “Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an Electronic Device,” that is what’s on the patent application filed back in February.

What this means is that system can detect the removal of the SIM, unlocking and jailbreaking, the system can then activate the camera, geo tagging and the sending of this data to a secure server.

What happens after that is anyone’s guess, but I don’t suppose Steve Jobs will be knocking the door!
